Explosion pressure relief, commonly referred to as venting, is probably the most widely practised and best understood protective measure used to control the effects of an industrial explosion. Explosion venting is intended to prevent the destruction of an enclosure due to any other overpressure condition caused by an explosion. Explosion pressure relief can be successfully achieved through the use of low mass explosion venting devices with predictable opening behaviour. Due to the instantaneous pressure relief action, the protected system will be safeguarded as the resultant pressure will remain within the safe pressure boundaries of the equipment. The Fike explosion vents are rupture membranes that provide a predictable, unrestricted relief area at a specified pressure. |
